Taking the leap on February the 29th

February the 29th – the day that makes 2012 a leap year!
Without getting too technical about why we have leap years, it’s primarily because it takes our earth 365 days and a quarter to orbit the sun. Some clever man somewhere back in the Roman times decided to put all those quarters together and so every four years we end up with an extra day bundled onto the end of February.
But science aside, the leap year is most famous for one particular thing: 29th February is the one day when women across the globe are allowed to get down on one knee and ask their future fiancés for their hand in marriage.
The tradition supposedly started when St Brigid of Kildare a fifth-century Irish nun, asked St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland to grant permission for women to propose marriage, after hearing complaints from single women that their suitors were too shy to propose. Fast forward to present day and you’ll find this tradition is alive and well. Loose Women presenter Lisa Maxwell yesterday announced that she proposed to her boyfriend Paul Jessup. So to ladies out there taking the leap, and those already planning for the big day, Errands Plus can help ensure you have a hitch free day. We run errands for weddings and engagement parties: addressing and posting invitation cards, purchasing decorations, picking up and dropping off dresses and hats, buying gifts and souvenirs, staying on standby for any incidental errands, etc all from £9.99 only. Last year, we delivered a forgotten wedding ring just in time for the ceremony, and managed to save the day!
